All Hail Dame Pat McGrath

The groundbreaking Black British female artist is honoured for services to fashion, beauty and diversity.

DAME Path McGrath is our inspiration to create a brand that is influential and diverse. Sophisticated and edgy, Bringing old world Hollywood to us in the best way possible. to say we are in awe is an understatement. From the interviews we have read Dame Pat McGrath, is friendly down to earth, while in the midst of humbly continuing to build her $1bn empire. The first woman to reach, this in makeup! We could all learn something from a woman of her stature.

"This is the golden age of makeup. PAT McGRATH LABS is my Golden Revolution. The entire planet is just as cosmetics obsessed as I’ve always been. Makeup is a movement. Makeup is mesmerizing. Makeup is major. Mantra-esque, three words have repeated over and over in my mind ever since I was young. Obsession. Inspiration. Addiction. Those words became my guiding principles, my manifesto as I brought this brand to life . I wanted to capture, in a quartet of exquisite palettes, 50 legendary lipsticks, a divine dozen eyeliners and five fetish-worthy lip pencils, The Power of Transformation, The Power of Beauty;  The Power of Makeup." - Pat McGrath, CEO & Founder of PAT McGRATH LABS

Path McGrath, is and always will be an innovator from creating velvety red lipsticks (the lipstick collab with supreme, was insanely amazing) to amazing rich colour and eyeshadows, so it’s no surprise she has become the first of her profession to receive a Damehood.

McGrath was raised in Northampton by Jean, whose love of God was matched only by an extraordinary fascination with everything fashion and beauty. From as early as McGrath can remember, Jamaican-born, Jehovah’s Witness Jean was schooling her in advanced aesthetic awareness. Her eccentric ways helped McGrath to try different stromg colours, with a twist from old world Hollywood.

Known for her editorial work with i-D Magazine and Vogue – which have resulted in some of the magazines’ best-recognised covers. Not to mention her runway collaborations with the late Alexander McQueen, and John Galliano during his time as creative director of Dior. Dame Pat McGrath pushes boundaries with colours and shapes.

A Body of work that  plays with shapes and utilises
materials such as feathers, lace, pearls and prosthetics, to blur the line between traditional makeup artistry and special effects, is incredible. The marriage between makeup and fashion is a longstanding one, the way Dame McGrath makes this a harmonious marriage is satisfying on many levels. It’s bold and daring. We just love it.

“I am truly delighted and humbled to be given this wonderful honor,” McGrath told Vogue. “My mother’s obsession with beauty and fashion ignited my passion for this amazing industry, and I feel blessed to have the privilege of working with some of the most extraordinary people throughout my career.”

The future is and always will be DAME PAT McGrath! 👑
